IO Interactive Washes Its Hands of MindsEye After Disastrous PS5 Launch 1

IO Interactive has officially announced the conclusion of its working relationship with Build a Rocket Boy, the development studio behind MindsEye.

The Hitman maker published the game last year, but as of 16th March 2026, all publishing rights and duties are being transferred over to the developer.

For a long time, it was planned that there would be a Hitman/MindsEye crossover mission; this has unfortunately been cancelled as well.

This marks the end of IO Interactive's involvement with the game, which went through a disastrous launch last summer. It's unclear whether IO plans to publish external games again in the future.

As for Build a Rocket Boy, the company has sadly been through more layoffs recently, while the CEO persists with theories that the game suffered a targeted attack.

Hopefully it's able to turn things around, though given the game's reputation, it seems like an uphill struggle.
